The Makeshift Compost bin Worked!

I am truly surprised at the speed of this All this material was last years greens. Granted the woody materials aren’t there yet, but considering how I wanted to use it, I am over the moon about it. The worms and bugs are throughout the section.

My plan was to bury the decomposed material in deepish sections under where I will plant. My theory on this is not new at all. In fact this is the second year of doing this and upon digging the trenches I only found a few thicker twigs from last year.

The method is that the materials act as a reserve that the roots tap into. On the top I would add compost where the seeds would germinate.

Evidence of this I would show with the oversized beetroot and more courgettes than we could eat.

And after that back-breaking work of digging and filling, then levelling, it is all complete until the temperature warms up some more.
